The mission of the Senior Citizens Department is to provide excellent senior programming to Tuskegee residents. Excellent service includes convenient transportation services and appropriate trained staff to provide access to nutritional, educational, cultural, and recreational resources. This will be achieved by the following actions:
  • Providing transportation to senior programs.
  • Providing timely, accurate, and useful information for seniors
  • Establishing and organizing quality programs that address the diverse interests of Tuskegee seniors

FY 08 Goals

  1. Complete construction of the new Senior Citizens Center Annex by September 30, 2008.
  2. Continue the Senior Citizens Services Recruitment Program, which will result in the addition of fifteen (15) new participants in the City's senior programming by March 30, 2008.
  3. Expand the senior recreation program to include taking at least 50 seniors on educational and cultural trips by September 30, 2008.
  4. Implement a senior awareness program, including the presentation of workshops and seminars on topics such as crime prevention, accident prevention, and legal and health issues by June 30, 2008.
  5. Implement a phone tree system which includes a daily telephone call to senior citizens on the program to aid in increasing seniors quality of life.
  6. Submit two grants for enhancement of senior citizen services by September 30, 2009.
