Substitute Teacher

II. OBJECTIVES OF THE JOB
This position is responsible for conducting the day-to-day classroom activities according to lesson plans and Federal/State regulations in the absence of the teacher.

Police Officer
Provide protection and security of the citizens of Tuskegeee. Incumbents provide protection through daily patrol, traffic investigation, and communication efforts. This position is responsible for the enforcement of federal, state, and local laws and the protection of life and property. Under supervision of hte Shift Supervisor, performs general and preventive patrol duties; answers complaints and calls for service. Enforces traffic laws and provides traffic control services; investigates accidents and any reported violations; provides public and community relations services to improve police relations; remains current on knowledge and skills pertaining to law enforcement; files and completes required reports.

Applicant must be 21 years of age and certifiable by the Alabama Peace Officers Standards and Training Commission. Applicant must posess a High School diploma or equivalent. Must posses a valid Alabama Driver's License.

Lifeguards
Employee is responsible for monitoring activities at the City's swimming pool and related facilities, enforce all safety rules and perform life saving and first aid procedures as necessary. The work is performed under the supervision of the Pool Manager, but considerable flexibility is granted for the exercise of independent judgement and initiative. An employee in this class performs the duties of other employees as required or as assigned by supervisory personnel. The principal duties of this class are performed in the environment of a community pool requiring attention to several persons at any given time.

Responsibilities and Tasks
Monitors swimming pool and all related facilities during assigned shifts to ensure and enforce safety codes and standards and prevent injuries and fatalities.
Cautions swimmers regarding unsafe practices and maintains the authority to discipline and/or remove violators from City pool property.
Rescues swimmers in danger of drowning.
Administers first aid and contacts emergency personnel as necessary.
Inspects and maintains swimming facility, including general cleaning duties and pool maintenance.
Collects money from pool patrons for admittance.
Monitor patrons signing in to use the pool and ensures an accurate maintenance of such lists.
Maintains all necessary records and writes and files reports on pool activities and specific incidents and accidents as required.
Provides needed information and demonstrations concerning how to perform certain work task to new employees in the same or similar class of positions.
Keeps immediate supervisor and designated others fully and accurately informed concerning work progress, including present and potential work problems and suggestions for new or improved ways of addressing such problems.

Credentials and Experience
Possession of a current Red Cross Basic Life Guarding, Life Guard Training or equivalent certification.
Possession of a CPR for the Professional Rescuer/First Aid certification.
Must be at least 18 years of age or older.
Graduation from high school or possession of a GED.
Some experience in aquatics instruction of lifesavin.
Any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to perform the work.

Part-Time Custodian
Head Start Part-Time Custodian

General Description:

The part-time custodian is responsible for performing general cleaning and minor maintenance repairs in Head Start Center(s) to which he or she is assigned.

Specific Description:

1. Reports to work regularly and on time. Reports if they are ill or need to be absent to the Central office.

2. Checks centers before entering for visible evidence of vandalism, i.e. broken or open windows, open doors, missing air conditioners, computers, TV/VCR's, broken furniture or material in disarray. Reports any vandalism to the police, then to the Head Start Director, Lead Teacher and or Facilities/Maintenance Coordinator.

3. Ensures that all windows and doors are locked and alarm system is set before leaving the Center(s) each day.

4. Does general cleaning in the Head Start Center(s):

a. Sweeps all non-carpeted areas daily and mop areas with Clorox or pine-sol solution.
b. Rinse mop and pail with Clorox solution daily. Pail should be turned upside down to drain.
c. Vacuum carpeted areas daily.
d. Cleans toilets, urinals and face bowls daily, inside and out with pine-sol, comet or Clorox solution.
e. Empties all garbage cans daily and places a new liner in each can.
f. Washes garbage cans with Clorox or pine-sol every Friday or as needed and turn upside down to drain.
g. Replaces soap, light bulbs, brooms and mops as needed.
h. Strips non-carpeted floor areas and wax areas once each month.

5. Performs other duties assigned by the Head Start Director and Supervisor as needed for the program.

Extended Day Teacher

II. Objectives of the Job (Purpose):

This position is responsible for the afternoon daily activities of the preschool-aged children. This position is responsible for ensuring that the afternoon curriculum is an extension of the program's curriculum and the Head Start Performance Standards. Teachers must provide an environment that stresses socialization, education, and recreation. This position is also responsible for the development of fun, educational classroom experiences and activities that are designed to guide the growth and development of the individual child towards his/her highest potential.

III. Responsibilities and Duties:
. Develop and implement daily lesson plans and daily schedules of developmentally appropriate activities on a weekly basis
. Conduct ongoing observations, assessments referrals and evaluations of each child's progress
. Plan daily activities jointly with the Extended Day Teacher Assistant
. Develop, organize and maintain learning centers within the classroom
. Experience and knowledge in implementing the Creative Curriculum
. Be familiar with positive approaches to behavior management
. Maintain cleanliness of room
. Attend trainings, meetings workshops as required
. Provide constant supervision of all children during all activities- indoors and outdoors
. Safeguard the equipment and materials assigned to the classroom
. Document and monitor classroom daily attendance
. Monitor parent daily sign in/out sheets
. Become familiar with the Head Start Performance Standards and all other federal, state and local regulations
. Adhere to agency policies and procedures
. Other duties as assigned by the Education/Disabilities Manager

Bus Monitor/Classroom Aide
Bus Monitor/Classroom Aide (FULL-TIME)

I. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

. High School Diploma or GED (CDA preferred).
. Working knowledge of the behavior and developmental stages of pre-school children, typically gained by working one year or more in a school or pre-school setting.
. Knowledge of safety practices as they relate to pre-school children.
. Good writing oral communication skills and basic math skills.
. Ability to maintain schedules while meeting individual needs of children and families.
. Ability to work positively with parents and work cooperatively as a team member.
. Ability to use a positive approach in directing and redirecting child behavior.
. Pediatric CPR/First Aid certified at time of hire or achieving certification within thirty (30) days from date of hire.
. Knowledge of automobile safety, driving and vehicle maintenance.
. Record-Keeping skills.
. Must have working telephone at their home.
. Must have reliable transportation.

II. OBJECTIVE/PURPOSE OF JOB

To initiate and assist the bus driver in providing safe and punctual transportation to and from center sites. To assist teachers in the classroom. Observe and monitor behavior of children and follow licensing rules and program regulations governing transporting children. Interact with teachers, parents and staff to promote the health, safety and the well being of the children being transported.
